German prepaid SIM instead of a travel eSIM
If you stay in Germany for longer, for example to study or for an internship, you can use a German prepaid SIM instead of a travel eSIM. It comes with a German phone number, there is no minimum term, and you pay per 4 weeks or per month. All plans in the table include unlimited calls and texts within Germany.
Before first use, a German prepaid SIM must be registered with an identity document, as required by Section 172 of the German Telecommunications Act (TKG). Which documents and procedures a provider accepts is stated on the provider's website. A travel eSIM does not need this registration.
